Bajaj Auto, a leading automobile company in India, is planning to introduce a motorcycle running on CNG fuel. The company’s Managing Director indicated that the CNG motorcycle will not only be cheaper to purchase, but it will also reduce fuel costs significantly. This move is aimed at attracting buyers who are unable to afford the rising petrol prices in the country.

No Concerns Over Safety and Charging

The company’s MD, Rajiv Bajaj, has assured that there will not be any safety issues with the CNG bikes. Additionally, he stated that there would be no concerns related to the range, charging, and battery life of these motorcycles. He believes that these bikes will be highly beneficial for consumers, potentially reducing fuel costs by up to 50%.

India’s First Fully CNG Motorcycle

If Bajaj Auto successfully implements this plan, it will become the first company in India to manufacture a fully CNG motorcycle. The company currently offers seven motorcycle models in the entry segment, ranging between 100cc and 125cc. Two of its models, Bajaj Platina and Bajaj CT 100, fall within the 100cc segment.

Competition in the Market

Despite the innovation, Bajaj Auto is not currently a leader in the 100cc motorcycle category. However, the introduction of the CNG bike could potentially give them a competitive edge in the market, especially amidst rising petrol prices and the push for more sustainable energy sources.
