NEW DELHI: Young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal made history by scoring his maiden international century against West Indies on the second day of the first Test in Dominica. The 21-year-old left-hander showed remarkable determination and finished the day unbeaten on 143, putting India in a strong position.

★Yashasvi Jaiswal joined Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw as the only Indian openers to score a century in their debut Test matches.
★Dhawan scored 187 against Australia in 2013, while Shaw scored 134 against West Indies in 2018.
★Jaiswal became the third Indian batsman to score a century on debut against West Indies, joining Rohit Sharma (177 in 2013) and Shaw.
★He is the seventh Indian batsman to register a Test century on debut in an away match, the first in 13 years since Suresh Raina’s century against Sri Lanka in 2010.

Yashasvi Jaiswal faced the most number of balls by an Indian on Test debut, currently at 350 and still batting. The previous record was held by Mohammad Azharuddin with 322 balls.
