Yamuna Vatika: A New Floral Destination in Delhi
A new garden named ‘Yamuna Vatika’ is set to enhance Delhi’s tourism map. This expansive garden, covering 450 acres, is being developed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and is expected to be the largest of its kind in the city.
Design and Features
Under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Yamuna Vatika features a unique three-tier design of flowers, which aims to elevate urban landscaping in Delhi. The garden is surrounded by various flower gardens and trees, creating a serene environment for visitors.
Ecological Impact
The initiative aims to beautify the city while also focusing on ecological restoration. A significant number of indigenous trees, including Gulmohar, Amaltas, and Chinar, have been planted alongside foreign species like cherry blossom trees. Additionally, around 10,000 bamboo plants have been introduced, positively contributing to the local ecology.
Water Conservation
Yamuna Vatika is equipped with four large ponds designed for water conservation during floods, ensuring that the garden can manage excess water effectively while also enhancing the landscape.
Future Prospects
This garden is part of a broader initiative to create green spaces in Delhi, following successful projects like Bansera and Roshanara Bagh. It is anticipated that Yamuna Vatika will become a major tourist attraction in the near future.
Support for Women in Delhi
In another significant announcement, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has declared that women in the city will soon receive ₹1,000 per month as financial support. To benefit from this scheme, women will need to possess a voter ID card, and the registration process will commence shortly.
