Western Disturbance Alert
Today, a western disturbance is becoming active in India, leading to changes in the weather across North India. Expect rain, snowfall, and dense fog in several states until February 10.
Regional Weather Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted intermittent rain in Jammu and Kashmir until February 10. Weather changes are also expected in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand starting today, with rain and snowfall predicted for the next two days.
Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi-NCR have been experiencing dense fog for the past two days. The weather is set to change, with rain expected over the next three days until February 7. Rajasthan may also see some rainfall, while fog is likely in Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Odisha.
Impact of the Western Disturbance
The western disturbance is being driven by a cyclonic circulation over Northern Pakistan, situated 3.1 to 5.8 kilometers above sea level. Another disturbance is active in Eastern Rajasthan at a lower level. It is anticipated that the weather will deteriorate in North India until February 10, leading to a drop in temperatures.
North and Northeast India Weather
Due to the western disturbance, sporadic light rain and snowfall are possible in the Western Himalayan region. Heavy rains and snowfall are expected on February 4 and 5. Light rain may also occur in the plains of Northwest India during the same period. Areas including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya may face morning and evening fog until February 7.
In Delhi-NCR, dense fog has persisted for two days, with alerts issued for more fog and rain in the coming three days. The minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR has risen by 1-2 degrees Celsius recently, with maximum temperatures ranging from 22 to 26 °C and minimum temperatures between 11 to 13 °C.
Today, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 11.8 degrees. The air humidity stands at 18%, and wind speeds are around 18 km/h. The sun rose at 7:08 AM and will set at 6 PM.
