  • Route: The bullet train will operate on a 508-km long route between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
  • Construction Progress: Over half of the pile testing work has been completed. The construction of stations along this route is on schedule.
  • Trial Runs: Trials are set to begin in 2026 between Bilimora and Surat.

 

Technological and Construction Highlights

  • Innovative Track System: The project utilizes a J-Slab Ballastless Track system, a first in India, similar to the Japanese Shinkansen.
  • Key Achievements: A notable milestone includes the completion of a 350-meter long mountain tunnel near Zaroli Village, Valsad, Gujarat, within just 10 months. Additionally, the first 70-meter long and 673 metric ton steel bridge has been constructed over NH 53 in Surat, Gujarat.
  • Bridge Construction: Out of 28 bridges planned, 16 are currently under construction.

  • Stations: The corridor will feature 12 stations across nine districts in Gujarat and three in Maharashtra.
  • Speed: The bullet train will travel at speeds of up to 320 km/h, with a design speed of 350 km/h.
  • Travel Time: The journey from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will be reduced to just two hours.
