Man arrested for making derogatory comments against government officials on social media
Police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a man for continuously making derogatory comments against government officials on social media platforms. Despite repeated warnings from the police cyber cell, the accused, identified as Shiv Prasad Mangal, continued to post objectionable comments.
Repeated warnings ignored
Shiv Prasad Mangal had been consistently making offensive comments against government officials, including a woman Sub-Divisional Magistrate, according to SHO, Sangrampur, Shriram Kumar. The police had warned the accused not to write such words for government officials on public platforms, but he ignored the warnings and continued to make derogatory comments.
Offensive comments against top officials
On October 30, the accused once again made repeated offensive comments, this time targeting the President, Prime Minister, and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The police have labeled him as absconding and assured that he will be arrested soon. With the help of the cyber cell, all the offensive comments have been removed.
Legal action taken
Sub-Inspector Sharad Chandra Pandey has lodged an FIR against the accused under IPC Sections 500 (defamation), 504 (insult), and the IT Act. The police officer stated that stern action will be taken against the accused.
The accused had been making derogatory comments on social media despite repeated warnings from the police. With the cyber cell’s assistance, all the comments have been removed, and the accused will be arrested soon, according to the police officer.
