Train Operations Disrupted On New Delhi-Agra Route Due To Cable Theft, Affecting Over A Dozen Services For Up To 1.10 Hours

Train Services Disrupted Due to Cable Theft

On Monday evening, train services on the New Delhi-Agra route faced significant disruption after thieves stole a six-meter signal cable near Runkata. This incident led to the failure of signals across seven points, affecting around fifteen trains, including the Rani Kamalapati Vande Bharat Express.

The affected trains were halted for durations ranging from 20 minutes to over an hour. In total, 11 trains on the up line and five on the down line were impacted, causing frustration among passengers who reported their grievances to the authorities. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has initiated a search for the culprits.

Details of the Incident

The signal failure occurred suddenly at around 4 PM on Monday near Km No. 1398/21-23 in the New Delhi-Agra railway section. The loco pilot of the Vande Bharat train, which was en route to Bhopal, quickly identified the issue, but the train remained stationary for an extended period.

The Mathura Control Room alerted railway officials about the signal failure, which also affected several point numbers, leading to widespread panic among the authorities. A team of railway officials was dispatched to investigate the situation, where they discovered that thieves had indeed stolen a six-meter cable from both the up and down lines.

Repair work began immediately, with new cables being installed. This process continued until around 5:30 PM, after which train operations could resume.

Impact on Train Timings

The delay caused by the theft saw the Rani Kamalapati Bhopal Vande Bharat train running approximately 10 minutes late. Other trains experienced delays ranging from 10 to 25 minutes. The Public Relations Officer, DC Chauhan, confirmed that the theft had a notable impact on train schedules.
