Toyota brings its new off-roader SUV, will give competition to Thar and Jimny, price only this much.

Toyota is gearing up to introduce its latest off-roader SUV to the Indian market, aiming to capture a share of the growing affordable SUV segment. This new model is set to rival popular competitors such as the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

Features of the New SUV

The upcoming SUV will be built on Toyota’s innovative International Multi-Purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform and will offer both hybrid and electric powertrain options. It is expected to be a production version of the compact cruiser EV concept, potentially named the Light Cruiser or Yaris Cruiser. The design promises to be eye-catching, featuring high pillars and a flat roof, and it will be longer than the 5-door Jimny, constructed on a robust body-on-frame chassis.

Engine and Performance

This SUV will be equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and may include the RAV4’s 2.5-litre petrol/hybrid engine, as well as a 2.8-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine. Additionally, a mild-hybrid system will be available to enhance fuel efficiency.

Launch and Price

The global unveiling is scheduled for the Tokyo Motor Show next month, with an expected launch in India after Diwali. Toyota aims to keep the pricing competitive, appealing to a wide range of customers. It can arrive in range of 12 Lakhs to 18 Lakhs varient wise pricing.
