Planning a trip to Bali, Indonesia? Well, there’s some news you should know. The world-famous tourist destination Bali has now imposed a new tourist tax, affecting Indian travelers as well. Last year, Bali announced a $10 (approximately 830 INR) tourist tax, which came into effect this week. The Indonesian government states that the purpose of this step is to preserve the culture and environment of Bali, often referred to as the “Island of Gods.”
π Tourist Tax Details
The tourist tax applies to all tourists coming to Bali from abroad. However, domestic tourists, diplomatic visa holders, and citizens of ASEAN countries are exempt from this tax.
According to AFP, Bali’s Executive Governor, Made Mahendra Jaya, stated, “This tax is imposed to preserve Bali’s culture and environment.”

The tourist tax applies to all foreign visitors, including children. Tourists will have to pay the tourist tax each time they visit Bali. The tourist tax can be paid online through the “Love Bali” app or offline at airports and seaports.
