Gautam Solar Plans 5 GW Solar Module Capacity by 2025

Gautam Solar, a prominent solar module manufacturer based in New Delhi, has unveiled its ambitious plan to enhance its solar module manufacturing capacity to 5 GW by 2025. The expansion will take place at its Bhiwani, Haryana facility, executed in three phases. The first phase is set for completion by November 2024, followed by the second phase in January 2025 and the final phase in April 2025.

Investment of ₹1,000 Crore for Growth

To fuel this expansion, Gautam Solar will invest ₹1,000 crore, funded through an impending initial public offering (IPO) expected within the next 12-18 months. The raised capital will support the establishment of a new 2 GW solar cell manufacturing plant utilizing advanced N-Type Topcon technology, known for its high efficiency.

Location and ALMM Compliance

The company is assessing various states to identify the optimal location for the new solar cell plant, prioritizing a robust manufacturing ecosystem. Gautam Solar plans to include its solar cells in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), essential for government-subsidized projects that require locally produced components.

Contributing to India’s Solar Growth

Gautam Solar’s entry into solar cell production aligns with India’s increasing demand for Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) panels for government projects. With India adding 11.3 GW of solar module capacity in early 2024, the company is positioned to bolster the nation’s clean energy initiatives, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
