Prices of Vegetables and Fruits Increased in the Capital Before Navratri
New Delhi ★Before the beginning of the festive season, the prices of vegetables and fruits are again increasing. There is an increase of Rs 10-30 in the prices of all vegetables including potato, onion, tomato.
At the same time, the prices of capsicum and beans are still beyond Rs 100 per kg. On the other hand, the prices of fruits have also increased. Fruit sellers say that there will be more growth in the coming days, because the demand for fruits will increase as soon as Navratri starts.
Problems increased due to decrease in arrivals. Mahendra Sanpal, agent of Azadpur Mandi and member of APMC, said that now the old crop is coming to an end. Sowing of winter crops is taking place in most areas of North India. Some of these farmers have already sown early winter crops, due to which the arrival of most of the vegetables in the market has reduced.
Rain also proved to be a problem. Mahendra Sanpal said that the crops coming from Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand are also getting delayed because this time there has been a lot of rain there.
The crop will be ready soon. At present, most of the vegetables are coming to the market from South India, but the arrival of vegetables will increase in the next 10-15 days because winter crops are being prepared in Haryana, Punjab, UP, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh.
Apple Costlier by Rs 30
Apples are being sold in the city at Rs 100, 120, and 150 per kg. Orange was sold at Rs 70-80, pomegranate at Rs 100 to Rs 150 per kg, and banana at Rs 60 to Rs 80 per dozen. Water chestnut is being sold at Rs 40-50 per kg and papaya at Rs 40-60 per kg. The price of apple has increased by Rs 20 to 30 in the last four days.
Grapes and Pomegranates Also Rose
The festival of Navratri is starting from Sunday. There is an increase of up to 20 percent in the prices of fruits. Fruit traders say that there is a possibility of further increase in a day or two. Apple is being sold at 125 to 150, pomegranate at 170 to 200, grapes at 200, papaya at 50 to 60 rupees per kg, and banana at 50 to 60 rupees per dozen.
At present, sowing of winter crops is going on in most areas of North India, and the old crop has ended, due to which the arrivals in the mandis have decreased.
