TRAI’s New Directive for Telecom Operators
Last month, TRAI, the regulatory authority, instructed telecom operators to focus solely on calling and SMS services. In line with this directive, telecom companies have rolled out new plans that prioritize just these services. As a result, users will find that these plans do not include any data benefits. If you’re looking for an affordable option purely for calling and texting, you’re in luck, as major players like Jio, Airtel, and VI have introduced budget-friendly plans.
Jio’s Affordable Calling Plans
Jio has launched two new recharge options that cater specifically to users interested in unlimited calling and SMS. The first plan, priced at Rs 458, offers 84 days of service, allowing for unlimited calls and SMS during that period. The second option is a longer-term plan costing Rs 1958, which provides unlimited calling and 3600 SMS over a full year (365 days). It’s important to note that both of these plans do not include any data services, and Jio has phased out its cheaper value plans.
Airtel and VI Plans for Budget-Conscious Users
Airtel has rolled out four new plans, with two focused solely on calling and SMS. For Rs 499, you get unlimited calling and 900 SMS for 84 days, while the Rs 548 plan adds 7GB of data along with the same calling and SMS benefits for the same duration. For a yearly option, Airtel offers a Rs 1959 plan with unlimited calls and 3600 SMS, and a Rs 2249 plan that includes 30GB of data, unlimited calling, and 3600 SMS for the entire year. Meanwhile, VI has introduced a single plan priced at Rs 1460, providing unlimited calls and 100 SMS over a validity of 270 days, or roughly nine months.
