Punjab government has taken a unique initiative to enrich the Punjabi language among students. Students of class 1 to 8 of all government and private schools in the state have been asked to find and memorize one word of Punjabi daily. The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab aims to connect the students with the great heritage and culture of Punjab. During summer holidays, students will be connected with the Punjabi language and culture along with vacation work. The students of classes V to VIII have also been ordered to memorize the names of native months and their relation with seasons along with Punjabi words. Punjab’s School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the purpose of this initiative is to connect the school students with the real Punjabi and introduce them to the Punjabi heritage. The government has given special attention to this initiative so that the students do not have to bear any expenditure in this regard.
