Kia India is set to expand its lineup with the upcoming launch of the Kia Clavis, a compact SUV that draws significant design inspiration from the international Kia Soul and embodies the brand’s “Opposites United” philosophy.
Expected to debut by the end of this year or early 2025, the Clavis is strategically positioned between the Seltos and the Sonet in the brand’s portfolio, with an electric version slated for release next year.
Design and Practicality
The Clavis is designed to offer a blend of style and functionality, featuring upright finishes and tall pillars that enhance the spaciousness of the cabin. Its interior and boot volume exceed those of the Sonet, aiming to provide a more practical and comfortable driving experience.
The exterior showcases Kia’s commitment to authentic design elements, making it a standout model in the compact SUV segment.
Advanced Features and Technology
Recent spy images reveal that the Clavis will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a radar module that suggests the availability of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the top-spec variants. Other notable features include:
- A 360-degree camera system
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
- Front parking sensors
- Standard six airbags and disc brakes at the rear
- A panoramic sunroof, marking it as the second compact SUV to include this feature
Interior Enhancements
The Clavis will not skimp on interior luxury and technology:
- A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- An all-digital instrument console and a layered dashboard design
- Premium diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels with MRF tires
- An eight-speaker Bose audio system
- Leather seat upholstery, automatic climate control, and ventilated front seats
Performance and Safety
The SUV will feature multiple drive and traction modes, powered driver and front passenger seats, LED headlamps, and prominently arranged vertical LED DRLs. While the powertrain lineup is expected to mirror that of the Kia Sonet, a hybrid version is also anticipated in the future.
Global Aspirations
In addition to its domestic launch, the Kia Clavis will be exported from India to several global markets, underscoring Kia’s commitment to leveraging its Indian operations for international growth. This move aligns with Kia’s plans to launch other significant models, such as the fourth generation Carnival and the EV9 electric flagship SUV, within this fiscal year.
