On Monday, a house wall in Vasundhara Sector 12 collapsed while drainage work was being carried out. The incident occurred around 6:00 PM, burying three workers under the debris. Local residents heard the loud crash and rushed to help.

The injured workers were quickly freed and taken to a nearby private hospital in Vasundhara Sector 10. While one of the workers was treated and sent home, the other two remain hospitalized. One worker, Tajuddin, suffered a back injury and is bleeding from the nose, while Mussabir has a chest injury. Doctors have reported that their conditions are stable.

Accusations of Negligence

Local residents have raised concerns about negligence in the ongoing construction work. They claim that excavation for the drainage system began about five to six days ago. On the day of the accident, three workers were tying up the base for the drain’s wall when the wall of house number 899, which stands about seven feet tall, suddenly collapsed.

The fire department and police were notified of the incident shortly after it occurred. Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Srivast and Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal arrived at the scene with a rescue team. They used a cutter to remove the gate grill and broke down the fallen wall to free the trapped workers. A bulldozer was later brought in to clear the debris.

Landlord’s Claims

The landlord of the collapsed house, Sudhir Malhotra, has accused the contractor of negligence, stating that the wall was left too close to the road. He claims that excavation continued near the base of the wall despite his objections. Malhotra also mentioned that the contractor demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from him when he raised concerns about the safety of the work.

Witnesses noted that the workers involved in the construction were not wearing any safety equipment, raising further questions about safety practices on the site.
