Delhi Building Collapse: Rescue Efforts Underway
On Monday evening, a four-storey under-construction building in the Kaushik Enclave area of Burari, Delhi, collapsed suddenly, trapping several people inside. At the time of the incident, around ten to fifteen laborers and their families were present in the building.
Immediate Rescue Operations
Rescue teams, including police, firefighters, disaster management, and municipal corporation officials, quickly arrived at the scene. Local residents also played a crucial role in the rescue efforts, managing to pull four individuals from the rubble before the official teams arrived. These injured individuals were promptly taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. As the rescue operations continued late into the night, six more people were successfully evacuated and sent for medical care.

According to eyewitnesses, the building’s collapse was sudden and alarming. After hearing the sound of the structure falling, nearby residents rushed to the scene. Some locals immediately rescued individuals from the upper sections of the debris. However, many others remained trapped, pleading for help and signaling with their mobile lights, but onlookers hesitated to approach due to concerns about falling debris.

Firefighters were able to reach the trapped individuals through a hole made in the debris. Despite being in shock, the firefighters provided encouragement, helping to calm the victims before starting the careful process of evacuation. During this time, it was noted that some adjacent buildings suffered damage and were evacuated later in the night.

Approximately 20 laborers were reported to be at work when the building fell.
