Heavy Rainfall Brings Relief to Delhi from Scorching Heat
The capital city of India, Delhi, experienced a sudden change in weather on Friday with strong winds blowing and dark clouds encamping in the afternoon followed by heavy rain in some areas. The maximum temperature was recorded at 38.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 27.9 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius at the Sports Complex Centre. Most of the centers of the Meteorological Department recorded the temperature below 40 degrees.
Relief from Scorching Heat Expected for the Next Few Days
The Meteorological Department predicts that people in Delhi will get relief from the scorching heat and heat wave for the next 4-5 days. Deputy Director General in the Regional Meteorological Department, Dr. Kuldeep Srivastava, had already predicted that after the high temperature on June 14, the decline would start from June 15. This will happen due to rain on June 15 and 16 and June 18-19. During this time, the temperature is likely to remain between 38-39 degrees, while the minimum temperature will also remain up to 27 degrees. Light rain accompanied by wind speed of 30-50 kmph is also likely on June 18-19. There is no heat wave condition now.
Expansion of Rainfall Due to Biparjoy and Western Disturbance
A sudden cyclonic storm is expected in Delhi due to the activation of Biparjoy and Western Disturbance. The weather took a U-turn after noon with dark clouds encamping and strong winds blowing. In a short while, there was heavy rain in some areas, bringing relief from the scorching heat. There is a possibility of light drizzle and strong winds in the next three days (June 17 to June 19).
With the heavy rainfall and the possibility of more rain in the coming days, people in Delhi can expect a respite from the intense heat and humidity.
