**PM Modi to chair Union Council of Ministers meeting on July 3 amid talk of Cabinet reshuffle**
– Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on July 3, sparking speculations of a possible Cabinet reshuffle ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
– The meeting is likely to take place at the newly-built convention centre at Pragati Maidan in Delhi, which will also host the G20 summit in September.
– PM Modi held extensive deliberations with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J P Nadda, and other key party leaders, including B L Santosh.
– Nadda’s participation in the meeting has led to talks about potential changes in the government and BJP organization, both at the state-level and national level, in preparation for upcoming assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
– Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram later this year.
– The meeting of the Council of Ministers comes just before the Monsoon session of Parliament, expected to start in the third week of July.
– It has been almost two years since the last major reshuffle in the Modi Cabinet. However, in May, Kiren Rijiju was replaced as law minister by Arjun Ram Meghwal.
– In July 2021, the Cabinet underwent a major revamp with the removal of 12 ministers and the addition of 17 new ministers.
– Notable exits from the Cabinet during the previous reshuffle included Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsh Vardhan, Prakash Javadekar, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, and Santosh Gangwar.
– On the other hand, new entrants to the Cabinet included Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narayan Rane, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Ashwini Vaishnaw.
