PM Modi launches five new Vande Bharat Express trains
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off five new Vande Bharat Express trains from Rani Kamlapati railway station in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal. The trains are Rani Kamalapati-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express, Khajuraho-Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat Express, Madgaon (Goa)-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, and Hatia-Patna Vande Bharat Express.
Routes and reduced journey time
The trains will improve connectivity to important tourist sites and reduce journey times. The Rani Kamalapati-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express will connect Mahakaushal Region (Jabalpur) to the Central Region (Bhopal) and benefit tourist places like Bheraghat, Pachmarhi, Satpura, etc. The Khajuraho-Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat Express will benefit important tourist sites like Mahakaleshwar, Mandu, Maheshwar, Khajuraho, and Panna. The Madgaon (Goa)-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express will be Goa’s first Vande Bharat Express, and the Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express will connect important cities in Karnataka – Dharwad, Hubballi, and Davangere – with the state capital, Bengaluru. The Hatia-Patna Vande Bharat Express will enhance connectivity between Patna and Ranchi.
Faster journey times
All of the new trains will be faster than the existing fastest train on their respective routes. The Rani Kamalapati-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express will be 30 minutes faster, the Khajuraho-Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat Express will be two hours and thirty minutes faster, the Madgaon (Goa)-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express will save about one hour of journey time, the Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express will be 30 minutes faster, and the Hatia-Patna Vande Bharat Express will save about one hour and twenty-five minutes of journey time compared with the current fastest train on the route.
The launch of these new Vande Bharat Express trains is expected to boost tourism and connectivity in the regions they serve.
