Sachin Pilot slams BJP’s Amit Malviya over false claims about his father
Congress leader Sachin Pilot has criticized Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s IT cell head Amit Malviya for spreading misinformation about his father, Rajesh Pilot. Malviya had wrongly claimed that Rajesh Pilot dropped bombs on Mizoram in 1966. In response, Sachin Pilot clarified that his father was an Indian Air Force pilot who dropped bombs on Pakistan during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, not on Mizoram in 1966.
During a recent no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned that then PM Indira Gandhi had used the Indian Air Force against Mizoram. Responding to PM Modi, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh defended Indira Gandhi’s decision to deal with secessionist forces in Mizoram, which had support from Pakistan and China. Ramesh stated that Indira Gandhi saved Mizoram, initiated negotiations, and eventually signed a Peace Accord in 1986.
