Bihar is set to receive the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, with a trial run starting on October 30, 2024. Initially, the train will operate as a special service between Patna and Delhi, offering sleeper seats exclusively. The trial is being managed by the Danapur Rail Division, which has already begun preparations.
Trial Run Details and Schedule
According to officials from the Danapur Rail Division, the Railway Ministry has released the official schedule. The first trial run will depart from Delhi to Patna on October 30, and from Patna to Delhi on October 31. The trial phase will continue with additional runs on the following dates:
- Delhi to Patna: October 30, November 1, 3, and 6
- Patna to Delhi: October 31, November 2, 4, and 7
The journey from Patna to Delhi will take 11 hours and 35 minutes. The train will depart from Patna at 7:30 AM and arrive in Delhi by 7:00 PM. On the return journey, it will leave Delhi at 8:25 AM and reach Patna by 8:00 PM.
Stops Along the Route
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will stop at the following stations:
- Delhi to Patna: Kanpur, Prayagraj, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Buxar, and Ara Junction.
- Patna to Delhi: Ara, Buxar, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Prayagraj, and Kanpur.
Ticket Fares
Currently, for travel on the Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat service, passengers need to pay ₹2575 for Chair Car. For the Executive Chair Car, the fare is ₹4655, which includes meals and refreshments.
No Sleeper Available in This Trial
Although this train is labeled as a Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, passengers will have to complete the journey seated, as no sleeper coaches will be available during the trial. After successful testing, it is expected that sleeper coaches will be added and the service will become regular.
This new service, especially during the Diwali and Chhath season when trains are fully booked, is expected to provide great relief to passengers traveling between Patna and Delhi.
