The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has taken into custody a Pakistan national, Seema Haider, along with her Indian partner Sachin Meena and his father Netrapal Singh, for questioning. Haider had crossed over to India to live with Meena, whom she met through an online game.
Anand Kulkarni, Additional Commissioner of Police, Gautam Budh Nagar, stated that the UP ATS informed the local police about the questioning of the three individuals in relation to concerns regarding national security. The central agencies and the Uttar Pradesh ATS were alerted when the Gautam Budh Nagar police arrested the three last month. The investigations are being carried out by the ATS and other agencies as per procedure.
Haider, a Pakistani citizen, has been subject to several rumors, including one that she is a Pakistani spy. A senior UP police officer mentioned that there are multiple elements involved in her illegal arrival in India, making her interrogation necessary from a security standpoint.
Last month, Haider entered India with her four children after falling in love with Meena through the online game PUBG during the lockdown. The couple started living together in Greater Noida. However, Haider was arrested on July 4 for illegally entering India without a visa, while Meena was arrested for sheltering the illegal immigrants.
After five days, both Haider and Meena were released from Luksar Jail in Gautam Budh Nagar on bail.
Meanwhile, Haider’s neighbors and a relative have expressed their disapproval of her return to Pakistan. One of the neighbors said, “She should just send her children back to Pakistan. She can stay there. Now she is no longer even a Muslim.” Haider’s uncle is reported to be a Subedar in the Pakistan Army, and her brother is also a Pakistani soldier.
Overall, the UP ATS is conducting investigations into the matter to ensure national security and address concerns related to Haider’s illegal arrival in India. The involvement of central agencies and the ATS reflects the seriousness of the issue.
