The incident occurred when a Railway Protection Force constable shot dead his senior colleague and three passengers on board the moving train near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra. The deceased passengers were identified as Abdul Qadirbhai Mohammed Hussain Bhanpurwala (48), Akhtar Abbas Ali (48), and Sadar Mohammed Hussain.
A video circulating on social media shows the accused constable, Constable Chetan Singh (34), standing near the body of a victim. In the video, shot by fellow passengers, Singh can be heard making inflammatory remarks, mentioning Pakistan and referring to certain individuals. The authenticity of the video is currently being verified by officials.
The police have not disclosed the motive behind the killings, and the investigation is still ongoing. Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of AIMIM, criticized the BJP government, questioning whether the accused constable would be celebrated or supported upon his release. Owaisi also questioned whether the constable would receive an election ticket from the saffron party and if the government would support his bail.
Jaipur Mumbai Express Firing Incident:
The incident took place when the RPF personnel allegedly fired upon his colleague, an assistant sub-inspector, and three passengers on board the Mumbai-bound Jaipur Express. Following a heated argument with the ASI, Singh jumped out of the train near Dahisar railway station after the shooting. He was later arrested along with his weapon.
According to PC Sinha, inspector general-cum-principal chief security commissioner, Western Railway, the accused constable was suffering from mental health issues and had a short temper. Sinha added that the constable had just returned from leave and first shot his superior before targeting the passengers.
