52 killed, over 130 injured in suicide blast near mosque in Balochistan

At least 52 people were killed and over 130 were injured in a suicide blast near a mosque in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province. The blast occurred during a rally to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. The explosion took place near Madina Mosque in the Mastung district. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaz Gashkori, who was on duty for the rally, was among the deceased. The blast was a suicide attack, with the bomber exploding himself next to the DSP’s car. The wounded are being shifted to a medical facility and emergency measures have been imposed in the hospitals. Another 15 people, including a police officer, were killed and over 50 others injured in the blast. Some of the injured are in critical condition. Balochistan’s interim Information Minister Jan Achakzai condemned the blast and said the enemy wants to destroy religious tolerance and peace in the province with foreign blessings.
