In a significant development, the Namo Bharat train conducted a trial run between Duhai and Meerut South, reaching speeds of approximately 160 kilometers per hour.

This trial, conducted by the NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation), successfully demonstrated the train’s capability to cover the distance in just about 10 minutes. Preparations are now underway for the final speed trial.

Key Highlights:

  • High-Speed Connectivity: The trial run marks a breakthrough in high-speed rail connectivity within the region, significantly reducing the travel time between Duhai and Meerut South.

  • Current Operations: At present, the Namo Bharat train operates between Sahibabad and Duhai, and vice versa, on the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Corridor. The successful trial from Duhai to Meerut South paves the way for extended operations along this corridor.

  • Future Expansion: Following the corridor’s inauguration in October 2023, rapid progress has been made to prepare for operations on the second corridor extending towards Meerut South from Meerut. The first trial from Duhai to Meerut South was conducted within three months of the corridor’s launch.

The Namo Bharat train’s trial run from Duhai to Meerut South at speeds of 160 km/h represents a significant leap towards achieving ultra-fast rail connectivity in the region.

This development not only showcases the technological advancements in India’s rail infrastructure but also promises to revolutionize the way people travel between these two points, making commutes faster and more efficient.

As preparations for the final speed trial continue, the anticipation for this high-speed service’s operational commencement grows, promising a new era of rapid transit for the residents and commuters of the NCR.
