Five thousand students are facing the brunt of the Rs 10 crore scholarship scam by the officers and employees of the District Social Welfare Department. To get the fees which were frozen 10 years ago, students are continuously visiting the offices of the administrative officers.
While the scam-doing officers-employees are enjoying slapping the government. Not only this, he is also influencing the investigation against him. On the other hand, the students who had deposited the fees by taking a loan are still repaying it from the loan.
When the scholarship was investigated, a scam of Rs 10 crore came to the fore. Describing the investigation report of such a big scam as serious, the administration sent it to the government. Also, a case was registered against the then Social Welfare Officer Krishna Prasad, Babu Tariq of his department and 22 educational institutions in the district at Surajpur Kotwali.
In this investigation report, it was said that the scam was carried out by the officers and employees of the then Social Welfare Department in connivance with the educational institutions. About 1200 students were enrolled in 22 educational institutions by bogus admission and scholarship was distributed.

The students whose admissions were shown in the institutions were not found in the verification. After the report was registered, the directors of many educational institutions including the District Social Welfare Officer had absconded. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the government had handed over the investigation to the Economic Offenses Wing.
Gift received instead of action against accused officers
After being found guilty in the investigation, the police arrested Babu Tariq of the Social Welfare Department. While the Social Welfare Department officer took a stay on the arrest. After this the matter calmed down, Tariq was also reinstated and posted in Ghaziabad.
District Social Welfare Officer got promoted. He is also posted as Deputy Director at the headquarters of Social Welfare Department.
