Noida International Airport Update
Ticket sales for Noida International Airport will commence once the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issues the aerodrome license. The developer, Yamuna International Airport Pvt. Ltd., submitted the application for this license on January 3. The DGCA has set a deadline of February 17 to address any objections.
Progress and Financials
Union Civil Aviation Minister K.R. Naidu announced plans for airlines to operate from Noida International Airport by April. Efforts are underway to expedite the airport’s completion, with approximately ₹9024.12 crore spent to date. The airport’s construction is currently 77.77% complete, including the runway and air traffic control (ATC) facilities, while interior work on the terminal building is ongoing.
Aerodrome License Timeline
The airport is expected to receive its aerodrome license by the end of March. However, passengers will only be able to book tickets after the license is granted. Dr. Arunveer Singh, CEO of Noida International Airport Ltd., confirmed that the application for the aerodrome license was submitted on January 3, and the DGCA’s objections must be resolved by February 17.
Inauguration Plans
The inauguration of Noida International Airport will be coordinated with the Prime Minister’s Office, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to be present at the opening ceremony once the aerodrome license is obtained.
Connectivity Improvements
To enhance connectivity, a 60-meter wide road is being expanded to link Noida and Greater Noida directly to the airport. Approximately 2 km of this road remains to be constructed, and the district administration is in the process of acquiring 76.3 hectares of land for this purpose. A social impact assessment survey for the land acquisition has already been completed.
