New Delhi – From July 1, 2025, vehicles in Delhi that have crossed their permissible age limit will no longer be allowed to refuel at petrol pumps!
In a strong move to fight pollution, the Central Pollution Control Authority has ordered all petrol pumps in Delhi to install special cameras by June 30 to identify outdated vehicles. Once flagged, these vehicles will be denied fuel starting July.
🛑 What’s Changing?
-
Petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years will be banned from getting fuel.
-
These cameras will auto-detect such vehicles and block them from refueling.
🗺️ Not Just Delhi – NCR is Next! The new rule will also apply to 5 major NCR districts:
-
Gurugram
-
Faridabad
-
Ghaziabad
-
Gautam Buddha Nagar
-
Sonipat
👉 These districts must install detection cameras by October 31, 2025, and stop fuel supply to outdated vehicles from November 1.
Other NCR regions will have until March 31, 2026, to comply.
📊 Why It Matters?
-
As of March 2025, Delhi has over 61.14 lakh outdated vehicles.
-
NCR districts in Haryana have around 27.5 lakh such vehicles.
Despite previous restrictions, enforcement has been weak. This camera-based fuel ban is aimed at tightening the rules and ensuring compliance.
💡 Bottom Line: If your car or bike is past its legal age, you may soon have to say goodbye – not because it’s broken, but because it won’t get fuel anymore
