Lucknow: National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained several suspects in a multi-state crackdown on the terrorists-gangsters-drug smugglers nexus. The crackdown was connected with ‘listed terrorist’ Arsh Dalla and many dreaded gangsters. State Police forces provided support and assistance in the raids.
NIA Raids in Multiple States
During the day-long operation, a total of 53 locations were raided. The raids took place in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Chandigarh. The raids resulted in the seizure of pistols, ammunition, digital devices, and incriminating material.

- Rohtak, Sirsa, Fatehabad, and Faridabad districts of Haryana
- Sri Ganga Nagar, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh, and Jodhpur districts of Rajasthan
- Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh

Notorious Figures Under Investigation
The NIA was targeting Arsh Dalla, Lawrence Bishnoi, Sukha Dunake, Harry Maur, Narendra aka Lali, Kala Jatheri, and Deepak Tinu.
Crackdowns Launched by NIA
These raids were the seventh in a series of crackdowns launched by the NIA since August 2022. The cases relate to conspiracies of targeted killings, terror funding of pro-Khalistan outfits, and extortion by gangsters. Many of these gangsters are either in jail or operating from foreign countries, including Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia, Portugal, and Australia.
Aims of the Raids
The focus of the raids was to dismantle the terror-gangster-drug smuggler nexus. The NIA targeted weapon suppliers, financiers, and logistics providers associated with hardcore gangs and their operatives. These gangs work with drug smugglers and terrorists based in other countries, including Pakistan, UAE, Canada, and Portugal.
Investigations by the NIA have revealed that the conspiracies being investigated were being hatched in jails in different states and executed by an organized network of operatives based abroad. Notable among these conspiracies were the sensational killings of Maharashtra builder Sanjay Biyani, mining trader Mehal Singh, and international Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambia in Punjab last year.
The NIA stated that further investigations are ongoing to dismantle these terror, violence, and extortion networks, as well as their funding and support infrastructure.
The NIA has also confiscated properties of Khalistanis in Pannun and Nijjar in Punjab.
