New Wheat Varieties Set to Boost Farmer Yields by 2025

The wheat sowing season is upon us, and farmers are gearing up for planting. With numerous wheat varieties available, selecting the right one can be challenging. Two promising new varieties, WH 1270 and WH 1402, developed by Haryana Agricultural University, are poised to significantly enhance production and quality for farmers by 2025.

Wheat Variety WH 1270

This variety thrives in heavy soils and well-irrigated areas. Farmers can expect a seed quantity of 40 kg per acre, yielding approximately 80-85 maunds. Recommended inputs include cow dung manure and 1.5 bags of DAP per acre, along with 5-6 irrigations for optimal growth.

Wheat Variety WH 1402

Ideal for sandy soils with less irrigation, WH 1402 also requires 40 kg of seeds per acre but yields about 50-60 maunds. It needs only half a bag of DAP and can thrive with just two irrigations, making it a viable option for resource-constrained farmers.

Farmers have reported positive feedback on these varieties, noting their higher production capacity and disease resistance. As farmers prepare for the upcoming season, these varieties could prove invaluable in achieving sustainable agricultural growth.
