Great news for commuters in Greater Noida West! The busiest intersection, Char Murti Chowk, is slated to become traffic jam-free. The Greater Noida Authority has released a tender for an underpass project worth approximately 78 crores.

The downloading of tender documents is scheduled from December 8 to December 28, 2023, followed by the opening of pre-qualification bids on December 29. NG Ravi Kumar, CEO of the Authority, has instructed to complete the tender process within the set timeframe and start construction in January.

Rapidly Growing Population in Greater Noida West

The population in Greater Noida West is increasing swiftly, making Char Murti Chowk a congestion hotspot. Currently, temporary U-turns on either side of the road are facilitating traffic movement. The proposed underpass is a permanent solution to this issue.

Underpass Route Details

This underpass will run parallel to the 60-meter road at Char Murti Chowk, allowing vehicles traveling from Pratap Vihar to Surajpur, Greater Noida, to bypass the U-turns, saving both time and fuel. Designed by the government advisory agency RITES, this underpass is part of their Traffic Mobility Plan for the city.

Completion Timeline: Two Years

Annapurna Garg, ACEO of Greater Noida Authority, has indicated that the construction will take approximately one and a half to two years to complete after the initiation. The tender’s terms and conditions are available on the Authority’s website.

CEO NG Ravi Kumar emphasizes the urgent need for this project considering the residents’ requirements and has instructed to ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction by preparing alternative routes.
