In a significant development for Greater Noida, efforts to connect the Noida International Airport with the railway network have gained momentum. The North Central Railway announced on Friday that the preliminary report for linking the airport with the Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai corridors is ready, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) currently in progress. Additionally, there’s potential for a railway station to be established in Jewar, enhancing the airport’s multi-modal connectivity.

  • Multi-Modal Meeting: A meeting held at the airport site on Friday, led by the Director of Civil Aviation, Kumar Harsh, and the Nodal Officer of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), Shailendra Bhatia, discussed the airport’s multi-modal connectivity plans. Various agencies presented their reports, indicating a collaborative approach to enhancing the airport’s accessibility.

 

  • Namo Bharat Train Route: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) officials provided updates on the DPR for the Namo Bharat Train route, which will stretch approximately 72 kilometers from Ghaziabad to Noida Airport. The corridor’s soil investigation is underway.

 

  • Bus Connectivity: Preparations are being made to operate buses from Noida Airport to several cities. The Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation briefed on plans to connect various locations to the airport through bus services.

 

Infrastructure and Connectivity:

  • Interchange Construction: The NHAI officials discussed the progress of an interchange being constructed near the 32nd kilometer of the Yamuna Expressway, aimed at facilitating access to the airport.
  • Greenfield Expressway: Updates were provided on the construction of the Greenfield Expressway that will connect with the Delhi Mumbai Expressway, further improving road connectivity to the airport.

The meeting saw participation from various stakeholders, including Kiran Jain, COO of Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd, along with officials from NHAI, North Central Railway, and other agencies. The comprehensive discussion underscored the concerted efforts to bolster the Noida International Airport’s connectivity through rail, road, and bus services.
