Faridabad – The Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) is gearing up to introduce a rapid metro service aimed at improving transportation between Faridabad, Noida, and Delhi. This initiative is part of the new Master Plan 2041 and will include routes from Ballabgarh to Jewar Airport, Gurugram, and Sarai Kale Khan.

Current Transportation Challenges

Currently, travel from Faridabad to Gurugram relies solely on road transport, forcing approximately 50,000 daily commuters to use cabs, buses, or personal vehicles. This situation raises safety concerns, especially for women returning home at night.

The need for a reliable and safe public transport system has become increasingly critical, particularly since there is no direct metro line connecting Faridabad to Noida. Passengers often have to travel to Delhi first, then switch metros multiple times to reach their destination, resulting in wasted time and higher expenses.

Proposed Metro Stations

The proposed rapid metro service may include stations at:

  • Delhi Sarai Kale Khan
  • Iffco Chowk
  • Gurugram
  • Noida
  • Greater Noida
  • Bata Chowk
  • Ballabgarh
  • Sahupura
  • Palwal

Enhanced Connectivity

The introduction of the rapid metro is expected to benefit nearly 200,000 people daily. Key features of the project include:

  • A station for the Namo Bharat Train on the Delhi-Meerut route at Sarai Kale Khan.
  • A new link road connecting to the DND-KMP Expressway under construction.
  • The rapid metro will extend to Sahupura, connecting to Jewar Airport, significantly enhancing accessibility in the NCR region.

Future Plans and Community Involvement

The FMDA aims to finalize the draft of the new master plan by 2025, which will be made available for public suggestions and objections. After making necessary amendments, the plan will be submitted to the government for approval. Following notification, an advisory agency will be appointed to commence work on the project, including preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
