🚦 Updated Speed Limits: The updated speed guidelines were issued by Sukhwinder Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Maharashtra. This change is designed to address the challenges commuters face, especially in maintaining slower speeds in the ghat areas. Here are the key updates:

  • M-1 Vehicles (Cars, SUVs, etc.):
    • Flat Areas: Speed limit increased to 100 km/h
    • Ghat Areas: Speed limit set at 60 km/h
  • M-2 and M-3 Vehicles (Passenger vehicles carrying nine or more passengers):
    • Flat Areas: 80 km/h
    • Ghat Areas: 40 km/h
  • N Category Vehicles (Goods vehicles):
    • Flat Areas: 80 km/h
    • Ghat Areas: 40 km/h

🔍 Survey Insights: The decision to revise the speed limits followed a comprehensive 15-day survey conducted by various authorities including the State Highway, Pune division, Raigad zone, Panvel police, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), and IRB Infra Development. The survey revealed the risks associated with low-speed travel which could potentially lead to accidents.
