Delhi Government Takes Precautionary Measures
Seeing the threat of monkeypox, the Arvind Kejriwal government of the national capital has directed its three hospitals to set up isolation rooms for suspected and confirmed cases of the disease. This step comes in light of the WHO declaring monkeypox as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern due to its spread in Africa.
Hospitals Prepared for Monkeypox Cases
A senior health department official stated that LNJP, GTB, and Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospitals have been instructed to prepare isolation wards for monkeypox patients. LNJP has been designated as the nodal hospital, with a total of 20 rooms for patient isolation. GTB and Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital will have 10 rooms each for such patients.
AIIMS Delhi Also on High Alert
Preparations have also intensified in AIIMS Delhi, where guidelines for suspected monkeypox patients have been issued. Five beds have been allotted in isolation for the treatment of such patients to prevent further spread of the disease.
