Maruti Suzuki reveals name of its new 7-seater premium MPV

Maruti Suzuki has announced the name of its new 7-seater premium MPV, which will be called the ‘Maruti Invicto’. The company had recently released a teaser providing information on the car’s body, look, and design. Earlier, the car was referred to as the ‘Maruti Engage’ in media reports. The car is based on Toyota’s popular MPV Innova Hycross and is expected to be the most expensive car in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio. Bookings for the Invicto will begin on June 10, and it will be launched for sale on July 5 with the price expected to be around INR 20 lakhs.

The upcoming 3-row MPV will be based on the Innova Hycross, as previously seen with many other models. Maruti Suzuki had earlier launched the Grand Vitara, based on the Toyota Harrier. The external design of the Invicto may have some changes as compared to the Innova Hycross, but the size of the car will be similar. The car may come with a new front grille.

Maruti Invicto specifications:

The Maruti Invicto MPV will be available only with a 2.0-liter petrol engine and a hybrid motor. The engine generates 172bhp of power and 188Nm of torque, while the electric motor generates an additional 206Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with an e-CVT transmission gearbox.

Although no information has been shared about the car’s features, it is expected to have some notable features, including a 360-degree camera, ADAS, panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control system, and auto driver seat with memory function.

Maruti had earlier said that the Invicto brand would have a low-volume product that would necessarily showcase “carbon-friendly hybrid technology”. It will be interesting to see how Toyota will allocate Innova units to Maruti during the high waiting period for the Innova Hycross as both the Innova Hycross and Invicto will be built on the same assembly line. However, Toyota has recently added a third shift in its facility to clear the order backlog.

In conclusion, the Maruti Invicto is set to be an exciting addition to the Indian market, giving a tough competition to Toyota’s Innova Hycross and other premium MPVs in the segment.
