Man arrested for killing husband of one-sided love interest in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar
A 31-year-old slaughterer has been arrested for allegedly killing the husband of his one-sided love interest in north Delhi’s Sadar Bazar area, according to the police. The accused, Mohammad Aamir, was arrested for killing a man named Sameer during a drunken brawl. Aamir’s accomplice, Mohammad Rizwan, was earlier arrested in connection with the incident.
Incident Details
The incident took place on Tuesday when the police received a call about a man lying injured in a pool of blood on Chamelian Road in Sadar Bazar area. Upon reaching the spot, the police found the man stabbed in the right side of his neck with a broken bottle nearby. They rushed him to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, but he succumbed to excessive bleeding.
The victim was identified as Mohammad Sameer, a 32-year-old resident of Sultanpuri. The police suspect that Sameer was hit by the broken liquor bottle found near the crime spot, which had stains of blood on it.
Investigation and Arrests
During the investigation, CCTV footage revealed two individuals on a motorcycle near the crime spot. The footage showed a man whose appearance matched the profile picture of one of the people who had called Sameer on WhatsApp.
With the help of local intelligence, the police arrested Mohammad Aamir on Tuesday. During questioning, Aamir confessed to planning Sameer’s murder and revealed the identity of his accomplice, Rizwan. Rizwan was subsequently arrested on Wednesday from Brahmpuri in northeast Delhi.
The clothes worn by both Aamir and Rizwan at the time of the crime were recovered from the bank of Yamuna.
Motive for the Crime
Aamir, in his confession, revealed that he was infatuated with Sameer’s wife. He planned the entire crime and roped in Rizwan to help him carry it out. Aamir and Sameer were close friends, having grown up together in Ahata-Kidara.
Both Aamir and Sameer had experienced marital problems. Aamir’s wife had left him the previous year and was living with her parents in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Sameer, on the other hand, was unemployed and had been living at his in-laws’ house in Sultanpuri since 2016.
The disaffection between Aamir and Sameer due to their respective marital issues contributed to the motive behind the crime.
