Regular flight services from Jewar International Airport, located near Delhi, will commence in April. This announcement was made by the government in Parliament on Monday.
During the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjrapu Rammohan Naidu also addressed inquiries about Kushinagar Airport in Purvanchal. He mentioned that airlines are eager to start operations from this airport to enhance connectivity.
Naidu pointed out that Jewar Airport is set to become the largest airport in India and Asia. He noted that a practical flight had already taken place at the airport in December. The minister assured that all developments are on track, and regular operations are expected to begin in April.
Several aviation companies, including Air India and IndiGo, are looking forward to providing services at Jewar Airport. Naidu highlighted the success of the Udaan scheme, aimed at making air travel accessible to more citizens, stating it will be extended for another ten years.
The government is also planning to launch 100 new airports across the country. Regarding Kushinagar Airport, the minister indicated that operations will be initiated soon.
