Jaguar once stood for grace and style in the automotive universe. With this upcoming GT model, the British car manufacturer is now focusing entirely on electric vehicles, throwing design traditions overboard. As our spy shots from northern Sweden prove, Jaguar’s future is going to be radically different.
Revamp Sign
It has been eight years since Jaguar unveiled its last new model, and it will be at least another year before the next one arrives. The brand is now showing a new sign of its revamp, setting the mood for a new direction with two prototypes of the all-electric Gran Turismo. While a two-door concept was shown last December, the production model will clearly be a four-door GT with a very long hood.
Electric Luxury Brand
With this new model in 2027, Jaguar will not only bid farewell to the internal combustion engine but also let go of the volume business, and prepare to reinvent itself as an electric luxury brand. In doing so, Jaguar is focusing on a design that is both clean and unconventional. Featuring unusual proportions, the new model, which is over five metres long, has an unusually long bonnet for an electric car and a completely new face.
Technical Details
Much of the technical details remain vague, though the EV is likely to have a range of almost 800 kilometres on a full charge. The revival of Jaguar is set to begin in 2027 with this four-door Gran Turismo. This new EV will be based on a dedicated EV platform named JEA (Jaguar Electrified Architecture), and will feature a NACS connector on vehicles delivered to North America. Jaguar has previously said that a bespoke platform is important for separating Jaguar vehicles from its sister company, Land Rover.
