IPL Matches Resume Amidst Ceasefire
IPL matches had been paused for a few days due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, but the excitement is back as the ceasefire is now in place. Fans can look forward to the thrilling matches once again at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Extended Metro Services for Spectators
In response to the upcoming IPL matches, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced important changes to its services. To benefit the audience attending the matches, metro operations will continue late into the night.
Last Train Timing Adjustments
DMRC has extended the last train timings for the matches scheduled on May 18, 20, and 25, 2025. Trains will run from 45 minutes to 2 hours beyond their normal schedule, ensuring that all metro lines accommodate the increased crowd. This change will result in 76 additional train services.
Route Changes for Convenience
The matches are set to begin at 7:30 PM and end around 11:30 PM. To facilitate safe travel for the audience, DMRC will enhance operations on all metro routes, including the airport line. A significant number of spectators are expected to travel from nearby areas like Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad to attend the matches.
Preparations for Increased Footfall
DMRC is fully prepared to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic to ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience. Notably, the Delhi Gate and ITO Metro stations, located close to the stadium, are part of the violet line. Therefore, train timings will also be adjusted at key interchange stations such as Kashmiri Gate, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Yamuna Bank, Lajpat Nagar, and Hauz Khas, offering continued metro services late into the night.
Traffic Considerations
However, it’s important to note that due to the matches, there could be some traffic slowdowns in Delhi during the evening hours.
