The International Film City Project Gets Green Light
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YIDA) has given the go-ahead for the layout master plan of the International Film City, set to be developed in Sector-21. This project will feature commercial activities along the Yamuna Expressway, divided into three key zones, while film city buildings, green spaces, and internal roads will be established in four distinct areas.
Project Details
An official from the authority mentioned that the International Film City will cover a vast area of one thousand acres. The first phase will focus on developing 230 acres, while the second phase will expand to 670 acres. In December, renowned filmmaker Boney Kapoor submitted the layout plan for the first phase, which has now been approved. Kapoor’s company, Bevyuuuw Project, will work alongside the Bhutani Group to bring this Film City to life.
Out of the 230 acres designated for the first phase, 155 acres will be allotted for industrial and business activities, while 75 acres will cater to additional developments. Ashish Bhutani, CEO of Bhutani Infra, expressed his excitement over the approval, stating that groundwork for construction is set to begin soon. A ceremonial “Bhumi Pujan” is expected in February, marking the start of construction. Bhutani claims this Film City will be among the most modern and unique in the world and aims to become a popular tourist spot in India.
Professional Activities and Attractions
Professional activities in the Film City will be organized across three zones. Plans include the establishment of five and seven-star hotels for actors’ stays, universities, training centers, theme parks, and shopping centers, including a Disneyland-themed amusement park. This setup is anticipated to attract visitors, especially those traveling along the Yamuna Expressway.
Proximity to Tourist Attractions
The Film City is conveniently located just 40 minutes from Mathura and Vrindavan and about an hour from the Taj Mahal. This proximity makes it an appealing stop for tourists heading to Mathura and Agra, with the company estimating that more than 40 foreign tourists visiting NCR would prefer to stay at the Film City.
Investment Breakdown
The overall investment in the project is expected to be around 1510 crores. Here’s how the budget will be allocated:
– Film production resources: 832.91 crores
– Hospitality, including studio and open sets: 373.93 crores
– Service accommodation: 315.07 crores
This ambitious project promises to enhance the entertainment landscape in the region, creating job opportunities and attracting visitors from near and far.
