Indian passport holders can now travel more easily to nearly half the world. Numerous countries have significantly simplified their visa processes for Indians. Currently, 16 countries offer visa-free entry, 40 provide visa on arrival, and 47 have introduced e-visas. The Ministry of External Affairs is in discussions with several more countries, and additional names may be added by the end of the year.

Countries like Thailand, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Maldives, and Mauritius now allow Indian travelers to enter without a visa. This is a major step towards making international travel hassle-free for Indians.

E-Visa and Visa on Arrival Options
Indians can avail e-visa facilities in countries such as Russia, Vietnam, UAE, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Argentina, Malaysia, and New Zealand. Meanwhile, visa on arrival is available in countries like Fiji, Indonesia, Iran, Jamaica, and Jordan.

  • Tourist Visas: These simplified visa options primarily benefit tourists, allowing stays of up to three months.
  • Time Savings: Travelers no longer need to spend time on the lengthy process of obtaining regular visas from embassies.

Convenience: E-visas can be applied for anytime, from anywhere, making the process more convenient.

Passport Ranking
India’s passport is currently ranked 82nd in the world, an improvement from last year’s rank of 84. This easier access to various countries is expected to further strengthen the power of the Indian passport.

Indians are avid travelers. The number of Indians traveling abroad surpasses the number of foreign tourists visiting India. Statistics show that 36.8% of Indians travel abroad, while 36.5% of tourists visit India.
