If you’re planning to drop off your family members at the railway station, make sure to read this update first. Central Railway has temporarily halted the sale of platform tickets at select stations due to the expected high crowds as we approach the end of the year. This means if you’re thinking of accompanying someone to the platform, you might face some inconvenience. It’s better to be prepared and avoid any last-minute hassle.
Stations Affected by the Ticket Ban
The ban on platform ticket sales is in effect at several major railway stations in Mumbai and other key locations until January 2. This includes busy stations like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, and Thane, among others. So, if you were planning to buy a platform ticket at any of these stations, you’ll need to find an alternative way to say goodbye. However, there are a few exemptions for certain passengers, including elderly individuals and those who may require assistance.
Reservation Services Unavailable
In addition to the platform ticket ban, both offline and online reservation services will be closed for a short period. This closure is due to the renumbering of train numbers in the Mumbai Passenger Reservation System. The services will be unavailable from December 31 at 11:45 AM until January 1 at 1:15 PM. During this time, other services like refunds and train information will also be suspended. It’s crucial to make any necessary reservations well in advance to avoid any travel disruptions.
