Action Against Illegal Colonies in Ghaziabad
On Wednesday, authorities took significant action against illegal colonies in the Duhai area of Ghaziabad. Bulldozers were deployed on 24 bighas of land where illegal settlements were being established. The enforcement team from Zone 3 of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) arrived at Bamba Road in Madhuban Bapudham, where they found an illegal colony developing on 22 bighas. They dug up the roads and demolished the boundary wall.
Demolition in Duhai
The team then moved to another illegal site in Duhai, covering two bighas of land. Here, the bulldozer not only broke down the boundary wall but also uprooted electric poles. Following the handover of Indirapuram, the Municipal Corporation took further action against encroachments, particularly on Kala Patthar Road. With a significant police presence and eight bulldozers, the team was able to clear the area and recover a fine of approximately ₹1.5 lakh.
Illegal Colonies in Gurugram
In a similar crackdown, on the same day, the city and village planning department targeted illegal colonies in the Raisina and Alire villages of the Sohna block in Gurugram. A strong police presence ensured that there were no protests during the operation. Anish Grover, the assistant city planner, was present as the Duty Magistrate during the demolition.
Destruction of Illegal Structures
The demolition squad first focused on Raisina village, where two farmhouse colonies were being developed over 60 acres. The boundary walls built for 57 farmhouses were demolished. Additionally, four buildings were also brought down. The team then proceeded to Alipur village, where three colonies were under construction on nine acres. Here, two houses were destroyed, and plans for 19 houses were halted as the DPC and boundary walls were also demolished, along with the road network.
