Hyundai Creta Electric set to launch in Indian market
South Korean carmaker Hyundai is set to launch its electric SUV, the Hyundai Creta Electric, in the Indian market. The model has been tested and supported a number of times in the past. The launch of the electric version of this mid-size SUV is expected to create waves in the rapidly growing Indian electric four-wheeler market.
Hyundai’s third electric car
Hyundai has already been selling two electric cars in the Indian market, the Ioniq 5 and the Kona. The Hyundai Creta Electric will be the company’s third electric car. The ICE model of the Creta was launched in March 2020 and has since been performing well in the segment. The electric version is expected to be launched by 2025 in international markets, including India.
Range and price
The Hyundai Kona, which is currently being sold in the Indian market, has a battery pack with a capacity of 39.2 kWh, providing a range of up to 452 km on a single charge. The Kona has been appreciated by Indian car buyers for this range, but sales have been slow. Hyundai is hoping to create a buzz with the launch of the Creta Electric. The starting price is expected to be around INR 20 lakh, which will put it in competition with the Tata Nexon EV Max and the Mahindra XUV400.
Exciting times in the Indian electric car market
The Indian electric four-wheeler market is growing rapidly, with many new car manufacturers entering the segment. Established players have also been strengthening their position in the market. The launch of the Hyundai Creta Electric is expected to shake things up even more. The testing model has not revealed the location of the charging port, leading to speculation that it may be placed inside the bonnet. The launch date has not yet been announced, but rumors are circulating that it will be soon.
