The iconic Howrah Bridge, also known as Rabindra Setu, which connects Kolkata and Howrah, is scheduled for a health assessment. Due to this, traffic movement on the bridge will be completely halted from 11:30 PM on Saturday, November 16, to 4:30 AM on Sunday, November 17. The announcement was made via an official release by Howrah City Police on Friday.
Traffic Diversion Plan
To minimize inconvenience, vehicles will be rerouted through alternative bridges:
- Second Hooghly Bridge (Vidyasagar Setu)
- Vehicles heading towards this route will be diverted via Foreshore Road.
- Bally Bridge
- Vehicles will be rerouted using GT Road.
- Nivedita Setu
- This will also serve as an alternative route for diverted traffic.
Advice for Travelers
Travelers are advised to plan their journeys in advance to avoid inconvenience during the five-hour traffic restriction period. These diversions aim to ensure smooth traffic flow while critical maintenance work is carried out on the historic bridge.
