The iconic Howrah Bridge, also known as Rabindra Setu, which connects Kolkata and Howrah, is scheduled for a health assessment. Due to this, traffic movement on the bridge will be completely halted from 11:30 PM on Saturday, November 16, to 4:30 AM on Sunday, November 17. The announcement was made via an official release by Howrah City Police on Friday.

 

Traffic Diversion Plan

To minimize inconvenience, vehicles will be rerouted through alternative bridges:

  1. Second Hooghly Bridge (Vidyasagar Setu)
    • Vehicles heading towards this route will be diverted via Foreshore Road.
  2. Bally Bridge
    • Vehicles will be rerouted using GT Road.
  3. Nivedita Setu
    • This will also serve as an alternative route for diverted traffic.
