Cold Wave Hits North India
The recent heavy rain, snowfall, and cold wave in North India have made the temperatures drop significantly. As a result, many states have decided to extend school holidays to keep students safe from the biting cold. This decision is particularly important for younger students, who are more vulnerable to harsh weather conditions. In Uttar Pradesh, for instance, winter vacations for school students up to class 8 have been lengthened to ensure their well-being during this chilly period.
School Holidays in Various States
In Rajasthan, several districts have also extended school holidays due to the severe cold and rain. For example, in Kota, schools for classes up to 5 will stay closed until January 18, while in Chittorgarh, holidays for classes up to 8 have been extended until January 16-17. Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, many districts have announced school closures, with Bareilly and Lucknow extending holidays for students up to class 8 until January 17. Other districts like Ghaziabad have also pushed back school reopenings until January 18, ensuring that students are kept warm and safe during this extreme weather.
Safety Measures and Online Classes
The Meteorological Department has cautioned that the cold wave is expected to last for several more days. Parents are advised to dress their children warmly and keep them indoors to protect them from the cold winds. In areas where online classes are available, students are encouraged to continue their studies from home. Meanwhile, schools in Delhi and Haryana have reopened after the winter break, although some districts will remain closed for a few more days. It’s essential for everyone to take care during this cold period and stay updated on school schedules and weather advisories.
