Delhi High Court reserves orders on Newsclick founder’s plea challenging remand and arrest
The Delhi High Court has reserved its orders on the plea filed by Prabir Purkayastha, the founder of news portal Newsclick, and HR head Amit Chakraborty challenging their remand, FIR, and arrest by the Delhi Police. The case is filed under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Purkayastha and Chakraborty were remanded to seven-day police custody on October 4. They were arrested following allegations that the news portal was given money to spread pro-China propaganda.

Commuters in Noida and Greater Noida might face traffic diversions today as an event to mark the “Parinirvan Diwas” of Dalit icon and founder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Kanshi Ram is being held at Dalit Prerna Sthal in Sector 95. Vehicles coming from Greater Noida towards Noida on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will be diverted from Mahamaya Flyover towards Sector 37. The police have advised commuters to reach their destination from Sector 37 via Atta Chowk, Rajnigandha Chowk, and Sector 15 Golchakkar Chowk.
Contractual sweeper arrested for secretly filming women students at IIT-Delhi
A 20-year-old contractual sweeper has been arrested by the police after a few women students from a Delhi University college alleged that they were secretly filmed while changing inside a washroom at IIT-Delhi. One of the students posted about the incident on social media and stated that no action has been taken yet. The police have taken the matter seriously and apprehended the accused.
