In a strategic move just months before the assembly elections, the Haryana BJP government has announced a 10% reservation for ex-Agniveers in various job positions, including constables, forest guards, and jail wardens. The announcement was made on Wednesday by Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini.

Interest-Free Loans for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

CM Saini also revealed that ex-Agniveers who wish to start their own businesses would be eligible for interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh.

This initiative aims to support ex-servicemen in establishing their ventures and contributing to the economy.

Reservation in Direct Recruitment

During a press conference, Saini stated that the state government would provide a 10% horizontal reservation for retired Agniveers in direct recruitment for positions such as constables, mining guards, forest guards, jail wardens, and Special Police Officers (SPOs).

Age Relaxation Benefits

Saini announced a three-year age relaxation for Group C and D posts. For the first batch of Agniveers, this relaxation would extend to five years, offering additional support to those transitioning back into civilian life.

Priority Weapon Licenses

In another significant move, the Chief Minister declared that Agniveers would receive weapon licenses on a priority basis. This decision is part of a broader effort to integrate ex-servicemen into civil society smoothly.

Incentives for Industrial Units Employing Agniveers

The Haryana government also introduced incentives for industrial units that employ ex-Agniveers. Saini mentioned that any industrial unit hiring an Agniveer for a monthly salary exceeding Rs 30,000 would receive an annual subsidy of Rs 60,000.

Agnipath Scheme Overview

The Agnipath scheme recruits young individuals aged 17.5 to 21 for a four-year tenure, with plans to retain 25% of them for an additional 15 years. This scheme aims to rejuvenate the armed forces with fresh talent while providing career opportunities for the youth.
