Noida, Senior Correspondent – In a significant development, the state government has forwarded the file for the new metro route from Sector-142 to Sector-38A Botanical Garden to the central government for approval.

If all goes well, the green signal from the central authorities could come within the next few months. Following approval, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will initiate the tender process for construction.

Key Details of the Route

According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the first phase of this new metro route is expected to handle around 80,000 riders. The new route aims to ease commuting between Noida and Greater Noida significantly.

Timeline and Approvals

NMRC had approved the DPR in their board meeting last December. The state government received the file for approval in January, and the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet gave the nod on June 25. This new segment will be an extension of the existing Aqua Line.

Station Highlights

The new extension will make the Botanical Garden a major junction, connecting several lines. The new route will feature elevated metro stations at key points, including:

  • Sector-96 (Noida Authority Office)
  • Sector-97 (will connect to Blue, Magenta, and Aqua Lines)

Route Specifications and Cost

The new metro route will span 11.56 kilometers with eight elevated stations. The estimated cost for this expansion is approximately ₹2254.35 crores.

Existing Routes and Connectivity

Currently, the Aqua Line operates from Sector-51, passing through several sectors, including:

  • Sector-105
  • Sector-108
  • Sector-93
  • Panchsheel Balak Inter College
  • Sector-142
  • Greater Noida Depot

Commuters from Delhi using the Blue or Magenta Lines disembark at Sector-52 and use either a short walk or e-rickshaw to reach Aqua Line’s Sector-51 station.
